Fixed - chamber apparatus with recording apparatus.-A self-contained device for recording the amount of liquid delivered from apparatus such as petrol pumps, wherein the liquid is measured and delivered in predetermined quantities, comprises a casing containing a support for a roll of paper and means for drawing the paper over an exposed writing surface, the paperdrawing means being actuatedeither from the part of the apparatus which is moved to predetermine the quantity of liquid to be delivered, or from the pump handle. The paper may be graduated so that a visible indication is given of the quantity of liquid supplied, the customer's name &c. being written on the paper by the attendant. In one form the casing 1 containing the paper roll 15 is adapted to be fitted above a pump of the kind provided with a vertically reciprocating arm or member which, in its upward movement, lifts an arm 4 pivoted at the bottom of the casing and raises an arm 9 which is pivoted on the shaft of the winding-on roller 7, whereupon a pawl 11 pivoted on the arm 9 drops into engagement with a ratchet wheel 14 secured on the roller 7, the continued upward movement of the actuating member causing the paper strip to be wound a corresponding amount. A spring 12 holds a roller 13 on the arm 9 in engagement with the pivoted member 4, and a leaf-spring 8 brakes the rotary movement of the roller 7. The paper is drawn across a transverse bridge-member 17 disposed behind an aperture in the normally closed cover 2 which is hinged at the bottom of the casing. When the setting gear is of the rotary dial type operated by a rotating knob or handle, the roller upon which the paper is wound may be driven from the setting-gear.
