Block paving; paving tramways; roads and ways, arrangements of; draining-channels; gratings.-Road and floor surfaces are in the form of perforated gratings of triangular form which are supported above the foundation to provide hollow spaces for the reception of dirt. Fig. 5 shows a road surface formed of gratings 9 supported at the corners on posts 10 upstanding from a foundation 12 sloped to permit of drainage and cleansing water passing to gutters 37, 38. The space between the road surface and the foundation accommodates service pipes 27 and pipes 33 - - 36 for flushing the foundation to cleanse it. Tramways fed by an underground rail 25 may also be provided for. In a modification, the space below the paving constitutes a subway for a tramway system. Examples of triangular metal gratings are shown in Figs. 2 and 2a. In Fig. 2 the spaces 4 shown between the apertures form moulds for solid paving material, and in Fig. 2a slots 4 are shown filled with filtering material. Fig. 4 shows a grating filled in with reinforced cement. Specifications 19436/09, 3181/10 and 3868/13 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes with reference to Fig. 7, (Cancelled), a floor construction in which the grating elements are placed on supports 57 providing a space x for the collection of dust by suction, or removable trays for the dust may be provided in the space x. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
