Abstract

301,756. Hollandsche Maatschappij tot Het Maken van Werken in Gewapend Beton. Dec. 1, 1927, [Convention date]. Sea walls and the like.-Relates to the production of floating caissons and other bodies of concrete for the foundations of quays, waterside embankments and the like. Hitherto a fixed dock 1, Fig. 1, has been connected to the shore by a bridge consisting of two longitudinal bearers 2, over which, and over the walls of the dock 1, travels a crane 3 with a traveller or crab 4 which serves for the transport of the shuttering and the iron for the building of caissons &c. 5 in the dock 1. A traveller 6, 7 on a crane beam 8 conveys the shuttering parts and concrete to similar caissons &c. 9, 10, which are being finished outside the dock. When the structure 9 or 10 is completed it is floated away, and the structure 5, if ready, is floated out of the dock 1, and moored in place of the structure 9 or 10. According to the present invention, the building of the caisson &c. is commenced in a floating dock 16, Fig. 2, parallel with the shore, and as the construction proceeds, the dock 16 is hauled under a bridge consisting of two high lattice girders 11, 12, and carrying a traveller or crab 20, a crane 21, and trucks 22. Below the bridge and guided by piles 14 are unfinished caissons &c. 15, 18, and another, 17, is in the dock 16. When one of the structures 15 or 18 is completed, the unfinished structure 17 is floated out into the place of the structure 15 or 18, and finished there.
