Abstract

301,418. Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon. Nov. 29, 1927, [Convention date]. Selective signalling apparatus.-In a system for supervising the control of electric power switches at a remote substation from a supervising station, the attendant at the substation is notified of the switches to be operated by electromagneticallyoperated indicators which are connected to similar indicators at the supervising station in such a manner that the positions of the corresponding power switches and also failure of the signals and circuit may be notified at both stations. The Figure shows a system for supervising a singlepower switch. Normally the indicators SMK, SMS at the supervising and substation respectively are connected in series with a resistance or impedance W over the corresponding contacts of the switches K, U, the latter of which is coupled to the power switch being supervised. The normal current operates the indicators into a position signifying that the power switch and the switch K occupy corresponding positions. In order to instruct the attendant at the substation to operate the power switch, the switch K is reversed to switch out the resistance W and thereby increase the current so as to move both indicators into a further position. When the switching operation is performed, the switch. U is automatically reversed to re-establish normal conditions. Automatic operation of a power switch effects a signal in a similar manner, acknowledg ment of the signal to establish normal conditions being effected by reversing the switch K. In the event that the signalling circuit becomes broken by reason of a defect in the line wires or switch contacts, the indicators are returned to their zero positions to indicate such condition.
