Abstract
299,955. Siemens Bros. & Co., Ltd., and Humphries, H. E. Sept. 14, 1927. Automatic and semi-automatic exchange systems.-In key-controlled senders having provision for cancellation by the operator of a number set up, the cancellation of a number so far set up is effected automatically if more than one key is operated at the same time. A tone or visual signal may be given in addition to the cancellation. As shown in Fig. 1, each digit key is provided with contacts additional to those, shown unconnected, which operate relays in register senders. The contacts of the " odd " and " even " keys are connected to the windings of a relay CZ which is unaffected by current through one winding only. If adjacent keys are depressed simultaneously, CZ operates and at cz closes a circuit for cancelling relay CR in parallel with the usual cancelling key CK. In a modification, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), two separate relays may be provided for the " odd " and even " keys and the circuit CR includes contacts of both relays, the relays being normally unoperated or operated according as to whether the additional key contacts are " make " or " break " contacts respectively. In another arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown), the " odd " and " even " keys are connected through resistances to a marginal relay, or a resistance individual to each key may be provided it it is desired to detect simultaneous depression of any two keys. In another arrangement, the moving contacts of the " odd " keys are connected to one pole of battery and the moving contacts of the " even " keys are connected through a common wire and relay to the other pole of battery, the other contacts being joined together. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 5, additional key-contacts are dispensed with, the windings of relay CZ being included directly in the circuits of the digit-recording relays DR, DR1. A tone or visual signal circuit may be closed by contacts of relay CZ.
