Abstract

299,227. Osborn, S., and Thrupp, B. H. Dec. 21, 1927. Shares with detachable wearing parts.-In a plough-share comprising a body member and a removable point and having a tongue or spigot on either the body member or the point to fit into a corresponding recess in the other member, the tongue or spigot is formed separately and subsequently permanently secured to the body or point. The loose point b may be of tapering form and triangular in cross-section, with the spigot or tongues e projecting rearwardly from a flat face and fitting into a recess f in a corresponding flat face of the body member a. The tongue may be shaped so as to be self-retaining in the body a or may be secured by a pin or screw g. The point b may be of manganese or chrome steel or other hard metal, cast or forged, and the body a of cast iron or other soft metal. The tongue e may be of soft metal, and the point may be. cast around it. Its inner end may be jagged or toothed to facilitate securing.
