Abstract
298,544. Wright, E. P. June 7, 1927. Animal traps.-An animal trap of the type in which the animal is swept into the cage portion of the trap by the movement of a gate when the trap is sprung is so constructed that the animal releases the escapement of the trap while standing on the bare ground outside the trap. In the form shown, gates W<1> - - W<1111> are arranged on a vertical shaft V adapted to be rotated through a right angle each time a rod r controlling the escapement is actuated by an animal trying to reach bait in an enclosure b. As the shaft rotates the gate W<1111> strikes and sweeps the animal off the bare ground outside the trap into the compartment w, the entrance to which is then closed by the gate. The animals passes through a oneway door d into the main cage C. The shaft V may be arranged horizontally instead of vertically.
