Abstract

296,822. British United Shoe Machinery Co., Ltd., and Farmer, R. W. June 13, 1927. Machines using continuous wire.-A machine for inserting staples through the upper and channel lip of the sole of a lasted shoe, for example as described in Specifications 8958/15, 193,904, and 258,349, such staples having no part penetrating to the inner face of the sole, is provided with a device for pulling out the lasting tacks arranged adjacent to the stapling nose of the machine. As shown, a tack puller 1 having a notched edge is arranged beside, and at the level of, the stapling nose 2. The tack puller is formed on a bell-crank lever 6 which is connected by a link 7 to the lever-arm 11 described in the before-mentioned Specification 8958/15. The tack puller 1 is normally held in its lowest position by a spring 10, and may be adjusted vertically by a screw 14 engaging the lower lever 6, which has a pin and slot connection with the link 7.
