Systems for alternating-current motors.-To get automatic change in the speed of an alternating current induction motor, e.g. a hoisting- motor ,according to the load current, the motor stator windings 4, 5, 6 undergo a transition from 2n-pole delta to n-pole star at a time determined by the current flowing through a series coil 71, which may be either in the stator circuit or the rotor circuit. A two-position mastercontroller 200 prepares the circuit of the magnets actuating the contactors 32, 33, 34, 52, 53, 54, 62, 63, the completion being dependent on the closure of a relay contactor 72 when the current in the coil 71 is falling, and being dependent on the opening of the same relay contactor when the current is rising.
