Mattresses.-Vertical partitions C are arranged in zig-zag or sinuous lines in a mattress casing to form a series of communicating enclosures or compartments B, gaps F being left between the partitions for the introduction of filling material. In a modification pleats may be made in the partitions which are afterwards slit to allow for the passage of the stuffing, or alternatively the partitions may be in short lengths overlapping but not secured together. Two such partitioned structures may be superposed, separated by a horizontal sheet of fabric, and enclosed within a common casing. Springs may be inserted amongst the filling material in any of the structures described.
