Abstract

291,838. Coveney, A. W. March 2, 1927. Moulds.-In moulding concrete by vibration or tamping, reinforcing-rods &c. are supported by hook-like devices of simple character which are adapted to be withdrawn before the concrete sets. As shown in Fig. 1, the member a, formed of stout wire or rod, is furnished with one or more projections or fingers b adapted to engage under the reinforcing-rods c. The members are supported by cross-bars e, Fig. 3, placed over trough-like moulds d and positioned by blocks e<1>. After the concrete has been consolidated, and before setting, the members a are turned by handles a<1> and disengaged from the rods c, and withdrawn. To prevent bending of the hooks b, their outer ends may be supported in recesses g, Fig. 5, in rods or brackets f depending from the bars e. Fig. 7, shows a modification in which the members a pass through slots h in the bars e and are adapted to be moved along the slots against the action of springs i for withdrawal.
