Abstract
291,171. Tod, J. E. March 8, 1927. Articles to be displayed, rotating and oscillating supports for.-Apparatus for imparting to fabrics a rising and falling movement to simulate a draping effect for display purposes comprises a number of pivoted radial arms d, which are given an oscillating up and down motion. Lengths of fabric l<1>, l<2>, l<3> are suspended from rings k slidable on detachable extensions d<1> of the arms d and connected together and to the arm d by cords m. The arms d are actuated by links e from a sleeve f reciprocated on an upright a by a connecting rod j from a crank i<1> rotated through gearing h by a motor g. An ornamental cap n surmounts the standard a, and the arms d, d<1> and the mechanism may be concealed by cones of fabric p, q. A rotary motion may be imparted to the. arms d, d<1> and to the base b. In a modification, the arms d are pivoted at their inner ends, and the sleeve f is counterbalanced by a spring, the upright a being mounted on a conical base b and the fabric formed as a cylinder with conical head. Two of these devices may be operated together by a cable passing round a winding drum driven by a motor having a reversing switch.
