Abstract
290,283. Naumburg, R. E. May 13, 1927, [Convention date]. Anti-dazzle screens.- An anti-dazzle blind or screen for the rear window of an automobile and operable by the driver, is wound upon a spring roller and connected to an opening cord leading to a position remote from the blind, resilient means being provided to hold the cord, which is operated by a single longitudinal pull, taut. In the construction shown in the spring roller 1 is positioned at the bottom of the rear window 6 of an automobile and a cord 11, secured to the free end of the blind 9, is carried over a pulley 12 to a spring drum 18 at the front of the vehicle. A ba.r 10, provided with a handle 17 and slidable in guides 15 is interposed in the length of the cord 11, the bar having sufficient resistance to sliding, e.g. a spring may press upon a rack formed on the bar, to hold the blind in the adjusted position. The sliding bar may be dispensed with if the springs of the roller 1 and drum 18 balance. The blind roller 1, which may be arranged at the top of the window, may be provided with the usual pawl locking mechanism to retain the blind in the required position.
