Values and valve apparatus.-The rectangular frame of a louvred ventilator, door or window shutter consists of four joined metallic channel members 10 - - 13, the side members 12, 13 having their flanges extending inwardly of the frame with the louvres pivotally mounted within such members, and the top and bottom members 10, 11 having their flanges extending outwardly and having projecting web portions 44, 45 adapted to contact with the top and bottom louvres respectively when the device is closed. At the corners the members 10, 11 may be offset in order to provide engagements for the members 12, 13, and the joints may be welded. Each louvre 23 is provided with an ear 26 at each end pivoted on the adjacent side member 12, 13. The pivotal connection between the side member 12 and corresponding ears consists of a hole in the ear receiving rotatably a drawn portion 29 of the metal of the side member 12 as in Fig. 6, and at the other side the ear is drawn to enter an annular flange 31 on the member 13 as in Fig. 7. Rivets 48 may also be employed as pivots as shown in Fig. 6. An operating bar 32 is pivotally connected to extensions 28 of the ears 26 at one side of the frame, the connection being by means of metal drawn from the extensions 28 and entering holes in the bar 32. A hand lever 42 for operating the louvres consists of a twisted plate 41, Fig. 9, having a hole 35 adapted to engage rotatably a flange on the side member 13, and a second opening 36 engageable by the circular lower end 37 of the operating bar 32. The lever 42, which is arranged to be pivoted on a louvre axis, is offset at 38 in order to provide a passage for the bar 32, and is arranged with an intermediate part 39 to project through a slot in a flange of the side member 13. The frame is adapted to be secured in position by screws B B engaging holes in the top and bottom members 10, 11.
