Abstract

287,791. Webb, J. N. Sept. 13, 1927. Force-feed lubricators. - Lubricant is forced through a nozzle h on to the check rail g of a railway, tramway, or like track by a worm c mounted in a chamber e fed in gravity from a reservoir f, the worm being caused to rotate by the action of the wheels a of passing vehicles on a treadle b operating the worm through pawl- and-ratchet mechanism d. In a modification the reservoir f is replaced by a chamber containing a piston which is moved forward to supply the worm chamber by a screwed extension of the worm shaft, the piston being provided with an indicator. The treadle may operate the ratchet mechanism through mechanisms, electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic means.
