Abstract
287,583. Claremont, C. A. Sept. 25, 1926. Rackets.-In a games racket the rim is pliable in the plane of the racket to afford wholly or in part the required resiliency and the stringing is arranged so as not to oppose the yielding of the rim. The rim may be made of steel, wood or other suitable material capable of yielding to the required extent and the stringing may consist of steel wires or other comparatively non-stretchable material, or gut stringing may be used. In determining the position of the strings a drawing of two positions b and c of the rim, viz. the normal and a distorted position are first ascertained by applying a distorting force to the rim, and the position of each string is inserted by the use of dividers so that its two extremities either move closer together or remain the same distance apart when the frame is distorted. One or more strings may be introduced so as to oppose the free distortion of the rim.
