Abstract
287,157. Siemens & Halske Akt.- Ges. March 18, 1927, [Convention date]. Track apparatus actuating signals on trains.-A magnetic system carried by the train and excited by alternating currents, and influenced by a track magnet to control a traincarried relay is so arranged that two magnetic fluxes pass over a number of airgaps or magnetic resistances arranged after the manner of a Wheatstone bridge connection in such manner that the bridge ratios are varied as the track magnet is passed. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the exciting coils 2, 4 in series with the generator 5 cause two reversed fluxes 6, 7 to pass through the impulse coil 8 energizing the relay 9. At a track magnet 10, the flux 7 is increased and relay 9 becomes de-energized. The track magnet is provided with a short circuited winding closed bv a contact on the signal 13 by means of which the magnet is rendered ineffective as regards the train apparatus. Another arrangement described comprises a number of magnets at a distance apart on the train, the exciting winding of one being opposite the impulse winding of the adjacent magnet, all the exciting windings being in series with the generator and all the impulse windings in series with the relay winding.
