Abstract

286,125. Rak, A. May 7, 1927. Extracts, making.-In a process of continuous diffusion on the counter-current principle, a number of diffusers and press-worms is arranged alternately behind one another, the lixiviating liquid, separated from the sliced material, travelling from the bottom of one diffuser to the top of the next, so that in all diffusers the liquid flows downward while the slices are moved upward. As shown, the battery comprises diffusers D, L - - and worm conveyers F - - , the material being forced downward in the delivery vessel A and the liquid flowing in the direction 8 - - 13. The material is forced through risers B, H - - into the diffusers and through risers E - - into the conveyers, the liquid being drained away before the material enters the diffusers where it meets the countercurrent lixiviating stream. In the conveyer worms material and liquid flow in the same direction.
