Junction boxes.-A container for enclosing cable joints 12 comprises end-pieces 4 of metal into which fit concrete top, bottom, and side sections 6, 7, 8, clamps 5 for securing the cable armouring 3 to the end-pieces 4 being secured by bolts 10 that pass through the box and secure the sections together. A bonding strip 11 extends between the end-pieces 4. The joints 12 are spaced apart by earthenware supports 13. The cable may be multicore cable, the cores each having a lead sheath and being surrounded by phosphor bronze tape 2, a layer 3 of steel wire or tape, and a jute serving. A filling of bitumen and sand &c. is introduced through openings 14. Specification 215,036 is referred to.
