Abstract

284,019. Miller, M. S. Oct. 22, 1926. Vacuum tubes. - A base 1 is moulded with lateral openings 2 through which pass helical springs 4 carrying or formed with sockets 10 having shoulders B supporting a disc 11, which serves as a guide for the sockets and as a stop to limit their movement. The disc fits loosely around the sockets and engages with a shoulder D on the base to limit its upward movement, and with stops A on the springs to limit its downward movement. Each spring is formed by coiling a strip of metal so that the turns pass through an aperture in the strip, and the part which is removed to form the aperture is bent outwards to form the stop A. The ends of the springs are clamped to terminals 9 and formed with soldering bags 5. The bottom of the base is closed by a cap 12 cemented in a groove and formed with projections C limiting the downward movement of the sockets. The base is secured to a panel by screws engaging in metal inserts.
