Abstract

279,935. Rust, N. M., and Swann, F. P. Aug. 3, 1926. Aerials. - A frame aerial is provided with two separate windings for alternative use on different wavelengths, the windings being arranged at right-angles to each other on a common mounting so as to avoid interaction. As shown in elevation and plan respectively in Figs. 1 and 2, the windings 1, 2 are mounted on the two arms 3, 4 of a cruciform support carried by a spigot hearing 7. The inner frame 3 may be secured in position by means of spring clips or the like so that it may be folded flat against the outer frame. In the alternative construction shown in plan in Fig. 4, the two windings are carried by opposite sides of an upper and lower octagonal frame 8. Insulation spacers 11 are mounted at the points where the coils cross, and also serve to tension the windings. One or more of the sides of the octagonal support may be hooked or hinged to its neighbour, to permit the whole frame to be folded flat.
