Abstract

278,987. Nebelung, H. May 26, 1927. Anchoring train and like rails; chair pads; inspection pits.-Rails d are secured to short lengths of H-section girders a embedded in concrete or masonry by clamps f and bolts e having T-heads received in a chamber o formed in the foundation and protected against dirt and dust by packing i. A pad r of impregnated poplar wood or felt may be inserted between the rail and girder. The chamber is formed by an apertured box of sheet-iron or tin or zinc plate. The packing i of asbestos is placed around the bolt shank. When the rails abut against a flooring, Fig. 3, T-head bolts m are used to secure the adjacent planks l. To obtain a maximum width for inspection pits, Fig. 5, the inner flange of the rail is secured by a clamp s riveted to the upper flange of the girder.
