Abstract

Vibration - dampers. - Two frictional blocks are pressed outwards into contact with the walls of a slightly tapered cylinder by means of levers fulcrumed to one another and operated by a conical connection to an operating rod. The blocks 15, 16 engage the walls of the cylinder 1 when the levers 10, 11 are tilted about their adjustable fulcrum 19 by engagement of their upper ends 8, 9 with -the cone 7 carried by the operating rod 4. Engagement of the blocks is assisted by springs 12, 20. The blocks are forced outwards by semi-circular beads 17 on the levers 10, 11 and are also held in position by pins 18. In a modification the position of the fulcrum is adjustable automatically as the members move relatively and balls are interposed between the upper ends of the levers and the cone 7. A dust protector 22 is provided.
