Abstract

275,606. Mauser-Werke Akt.-Ges. Aug. 4, 1926, [Convention date]. Cartridge magazines.-Relates to box magazines for holding a large number (25 or more ) rimmed cartridges in staggered relation. According to the invention, (a) the magazine lips are provided at the rear with inwardly projecting lugs l<1> which reduce the width of the top opening to less than the diameter of the cartridge rim, so that each cartridge must be inserted in front of these lugs and pushed back; this ensures that the rim of an upper cartridge is in front of the rim of a lower cartridge; and (b) the rear wall w<1> of the magazine is a uniform circular arc and the front wall w<2> is formed of two combined circular arcs, the shorter upper one c, d being of less radius than the longer lower one d, e. In a special example, the radius of curvature of the rear wall is 300 mm. and the radii of the front arcs are 170 mm. and 250 mm. respectively.
