Abstract

275,484. Thomas, E. Jan. 15, 1927. Mattresses are made up of W-shaped springs- Figs. 1, 2 having their outer limbs formed as rings in parallel planes at right angles to the inner limbs, the rings being linked together between upper and lower frames a, b, Figs. 3, 4 to provide diamond-meshed surfaces. The springs are coiled at the corners e, and the rings f are hooked at their free ends g, and cranked at the corners l so as to form flat surfaces when linked up. The frames are formed of flat iron bars connected by metal corner pieces. The outer rows of springs are connected by stays h to prevent distortion.
