Processes. - Bituminous or like plastic compositions are used for electric insulation by applying the plastic composition in sheet form to the surfaces to be insulated, and sealing it along its free edges by the application of local heat. The surfaces may be roughened or coated with adhesive paint to promote adhesion of the composition. Figs. 1 and 3 show a sheet d of insulating composition moulded by hand or otherwise round the crossarm support of a high tension insulator c. The free ends of the composition are sealed at e.
