Abstract

274,596. Rose, W. V., and Gibbs, C. R. May 12, 1926. Delivery of articles stored in piles. - The articles piled in magazines 18 are delivered by drawers 13 sliding in guideways 12 of a casting 10 secured by screws 11 to the base of a casing 5, the drawers moving through slots 6 in the sides of the casing. They are normally prevented from being drawn out by catches 26 which are pivoted in brackets 25 carried by the top of a cash box 16 and obstruct arms 24 extending horizontally and laterally from vertical arms 23 at the rear of the drawers. The catches 26 have forked front ends 27, inclines 28 and downwardly projecting teeth 29 which prevent the drawers from being partly pushed in and then drawn out again. The cash box is a casting formed with an open front 17 and a standard 15 which is attached to the casting 10 by screws 14. The top of the casting 16 beneath each catch 26 is formed with an inclined groove 30 to receive a coin, the groove ending in an opening 31 leading to the interior of the cash-box. The coin shoots 36 are formed in a casting 33 attached to the sides of the cash box by screws 35. Instead of two magazines and drawers, the machine may comprise only a single drawer and associated mechanism. Coin action, mechanical-connection.-A coin inserted through a shoot 36 rests on edge in a groove 30 between the forked ends of a catch 26. When the corresponding drawer is pulled. its arm 24 moves the coin against the incline 28 on the catch raising this to allow the drawer to be pulled out fully. Casings.-The casing 5, except for the front panel, is formed from a single casting. The front is provided with a glazed panels and is secured to the casing by projecting pins and a lock. Coin-slit closing-devices.-Stops projected by sprir.gs into the coin shoot may be provided to prevent coins from passing when the drawer is open, the springs being held back when the drawer is closed. A pivoted shutter connected to a following weight on the pile of goods may close the coin slit when the magazine is empty.
