Abstract
274,201. Sampson, P., April 16, 1926. Supports for articles to be heated. -A plate rack of the type comprising a base portion to support the plates &c., and upstanding arms attached at each end of the base whereby the device is suspended from existing plate racks or above gas stoves or from oven shelves, is characterized by the arms being pivoted, at one or both ends, to the base. As shown in Fig. 1, the base consists of twisted or corrugated side members a, hooked arms a' being secured thereto, and hooked arms b<1> being pivotally attached to the cross piece a<3> of the base, e.g. by rings c. The arms a' may be integral with a strip d. The plates are passed through the bars of the existing plate rack and their lower edges are positioned and supported in the twists or corrugations of the members a. In a modification, the member b is of wire and is pivoted in the side-pieces a, or the ends of the wires may be attached to rings c, in which case the downturned ends of hooks could be joined. In another modification, Fig. 2, strips e are joined by cross-rods f which may be secured by bending the ends to re-enter the strips e as shown at f<1> The strips e are bent upwardly to form hooks e<2> and the end cross-rod is extended to form hooks g<2>, the ends of which may be joined by a length of wire. In further modifications, the sides e are rods or strips each end having one end bent up and hooked, the pivoted arms being at the other ends. The cross-members are formed from a continuous length of rod which is traversed backwards and forwards between the side rods and secured by welding, brazing, &c. The hooks may be replaced by clips, bolts or other attachment means.
