Limbs, artificial.-The socket of an artificial limb is formed with a number of recesses, indentations, or protuberances h whereby the artificial limb is held on the stump without the use of straps or braces. The socket may be fitted with a valve j. If the socket becomes loose, an inner lining may be inserted having recesses &c. to fit those in the socket.
