Abstract

264,808. Taus, J. Jan. 21, 1926, [Convention date]. Forceps. - A tool for cutting wire, wire-rope, metal plate, gauze, &c. as well as bones in surgical operations, comprises two cylindrical members, one within the other, which are slotted from one end to the other to form continuous cutting edges, the slot in the inner member being enlarged into an axial bore allowing the tool to be slipped over a beaded edge. The cylindrical member 2 is retained within the member 1 by the lip 7, both members being slotted at 3, 4 so that when the handles 8, 9 are pressed together the cutting edge 6 of the outer member slides over the cutting edge 5 of the inner member, severing an object placed between them with a shearing action. The slotted portions are extended at one side to overhang the rest of the tool.
