Fluid-friction apparatus.-The restricted communicating aperture x<1> between the removable overhanging part e and the fixed part c of the receiving pocket of the brine pump described in the parent Specification, instead of being located at the junction of the removable and fixed parts, may be arranged in a horizontal partition x or in the fixed part c, or in the upper removable part, or in a vertical partition in the lower fixed part. A pipe for the escape of air may connect the lower fixed part of the pocket with the upper removable parts.
