Abstract
264,340. Calico Printers' Association, Ltd., and Wilson, O. Feb. 13, 1926. Inking-apparatus. - The doctor blades of the inking-apparatus of printing and like machines are secured in the doctor holder by a wedging action exerted thereon by a mechanically operated wedge, or wedges. The doctor holder a, Figs. 1 and 4, is made in one piece and provided with a longitudinal slot b which tapers throughout its length and co-operates with a longitudinal wedge d provided with screw-threaded end-extensions e, f whereby it is adjusted longitudinally to clamp or release the doctor blade c disposed between it and the bottom of the holder. The holder is provided with mounting-pivots i at its ends, and has arms j to enable the pressure of the blade on its co-operating roller to be regulated. The arms j may be provided with front extensions k, m extending over the front of the holder, and forming clamps to prevent the slot from being distended by the action of the wedge. In a modification the holder has a parallel slot to receive two co-operating longitudinal wedges provided with adjusting bolts on their ends to clamp or release a doctor blade disposed adjacent to the top of the slot. In another modification. Fig. 6, a wedge d in a slot which tapers inwardly is adjusted by bolts f extending from it through the rear of the holder a. Additional bolts through the rear of the holder are adapted to be screwed inwardly to eject the blade c and the wedge after the clamping nuts on the bolts f have been released.
