Abstract

263,262. Needham, W. Oct. 29, 1925. Manhole frames and covers.-Manhole and like frames a are formed around the inner periphery with a plurality of spaced recesses b having the sides b<1> inclined downwardly towards each other, and the covers d, Fig. 8, for such frames are formed with a series of corresponding projections e so arranged that the interengaging inclined sides support the whole weight of the cover. No parts other than the inclined sides make supporting contact. The cover and frame may be of cylindrical, conical, rectangular or similar form, and in the first two cases the sides of the recesses are arranged radially. The projections e on the cover extend below the bottom part of the latter. Notches f in the cover are adapted to receive a lever g for lifting the cover from its seating.
