Abstract

Apparatus for and method of distributing electricity across an electricity distribution network including: providing a voltage adjustment device 22 located between a power generation site 12 in the electricity distribution network and at least one consumer connection point , the voltage adjustment device being connected to the power generation site by a transmission network 14; providing at least one power stabilisation device 23 in communication with the voltage adjustment device and the transmission network; providing electricity to the voltage adjustment device at a first voltage; measuring a characteristic of the electricity from at least one point in the electricity distribution network; wherein, if the measured characteristic of the electricity is not within a predetermined range, the method includes using the power stabilisation device to extract a portion of the electricity provided to the voltage adjustment device, the extracted portion of the electricity having a second voltage, and injecting the extracted portion of the electricity into the transmission network.
