Abstract

The Electric vehicle charge boom comprises a bollard light post or lamppost that has a telescopic boom arm concealed within the said post, and a means to provide charging of electric vehicles via a cable connected to the post and routed through the telescopic boom such that the boom and cable are above the ground at a height sufficient for a pedestrian to walk under safely, and enable the charging of an electric vehicle. The boom is foldable such that when not in use the boom is stored withing a cavity in the post, leaving the appearance of said bollard/lamppost. The boom may be supported by a gas strut connected between the boom and the post. The post may also have a solar light provided at the distal end of the post.

Description

Description
The lamppost/bollard is a unit that is used to carry an electric vehicle charge cable over a path/ wall or any obstacle eliminating a trip hazard, the unit will fold into itself to become a standard aesthetically pleasing lamppost.
The post is just the housing if which the cable and boom are discreetly housed. Inside the post there is a C section which allows the telescopic arm to retract and fold neatly away.
Inside the telescopic boom the cable will be allowed to travel freely, the boom will be extended and retracted by pulling on the cable itself.
The boom will be hinged at the top of the C Section by a single bolt and a roller wheel to protect the cable from wearing on the edges of the boom. The boom itself will be supported by a gas strut that will mounted on the vertical C section and mid-way down the first part of the telescopic boom, so the boom isn't locked in place and is allowed to pe pulled down easily to prevent damage.
In the closed position the cable can be stored in the storage unit at the base.
There is also a mounting plate which can be attached to the post to carry the charge station/transformer. This will be optional.
