Abstract

Hook with a primary upper prong 1 and several lower prongs 3 each independent of each other and held in place by a primary pin or bolt 4 and a threaded nut 5. The primary upper prong has a top part that rotates about an axis of the primary pin or bolt and a secondary bottom hook 2 that rotates about an axis of a secondary pin or bolt 6 and threaded nut 7, supported by the primary upper prong. The secondary bottom hook can rotate independently into any position and the primary upper prong can also rotate independently of multiple secondary lower prongs into any position for practical use. The secondary lower hook may be adjusted up or down and held tightly against the primary upper prong with a wing type nut. The hook may be placed upon an existing single prong hook to extend its use to a multi-pronged hook. When not in use the hook may be folded flat. Device may be a variety of sizes made from metal or other materials. Uses include sports, vehicle maintenance, gardening, clothing or utility purposes.

Description

A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary applications This invention relates to a multi-purpose foldable hook that can be used in the home, garden, garage, office, warehouse, maintenance shop, shop premises, D.I.Y centres, garden centres and in sport to name a few short term applications.
Most hooks are for use in fixed positions and attached to a vertical surface using screws, nails; adhesive or suction methods for permanent or long term use.
Other hooks that have a temporary use such as 'S hooks are for use on specific shaped supporting structures such as top edge of door or items such as a horizontal rod of a specified diameter or on specially designed supports for holding the hooks.
When fixed in these locations, most have applications that include hanging coats, hats, bags, towels and tools to name a few long term uses.
The invention of the portable universal multi prong utility hook is for temporary use and can be hung on most single prong hooks to make the hook work as a multi prong hook. It can be hung by a nail or screw or can be adjusted so that the primary supporting prong fit in a recess of any object with a load bearing horizontal plane and the secondary supporting prongs are opened to the required position and locked into position to suit the items that need to be hung or supported for a temporary period.
The portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of applications can be used in the home, in the garage, on maintenance shop floor and in sports as examples for short term use only, where there is a need to temporary support items, for examples; clothes, hats, bags, small pots of plants, fishing rods and tools.
When the short term use is no longer needed, then the portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook is removed and can then be folded into a flat, one plane position for storage or transport.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the following drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a first embodiment of the portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook with the main primary upper prong and a plurality of secondary lower prongs in a typical flat, one plane, folded position.

In Figures 1 to 20, the plurality of embodiments of the portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary applications are shown, in front and perspective views, comprising of a primary upper prong primary top part 1 and secondary bottom hook part 2 together with a plurality of secondary lower prongs 3, held together by a primary pin or bolt 4 and a nut 5. The primary upper prong secondary bottom hook part 2 can also move up and down and can rotate about a secondary pin or bolt 6 and nut 7 to establish the primary prong mechanics that enable the portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook to be temporary attached to another object.
As an option, the primary pin or bolt 4 and nut 5 can be replaced by a wing screw that fastens in to the threaded part of the bottom secondary lower prong and the secondary pin or bolt 6 and nut 7 can be replaced by a wing screw that fastens in to the threaded part of the bottom hook part.
In Figures 21 to 32, the plurality of embodiments of the portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary applications are shown, in front and perspective views, having a secondary prong with two parts with one that can adjust or rotate through a vertical plane from a 90 degree angle to an angle less that 90 degree around a pin or bolt 8 and locked into position by nut 9.
Also in Figures 21 to 32 is shown, in front and perspective views, a primary upper prong comprising of two parts that can rotate around a vertical plane and lock into position by a tighten wing screw or Allen head screw 10 that can be fastened in a thread part of the upper prong.
An alternate profile of each prong can be of optional shapes like that of a steel beam or channel with web 12 and flange 13 to more effectively carry the load that can be imposed upon each individual prong.
The portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary applications can be hung, by use of the primary upper prong mechanics, on standard clothe hanger to provide multi prong supports for ties, belts and other small items.
The portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary applications can be hung on a standard single prong hook, by use of the primary upper prong mechanics, to combine with the single prong hook and make it become a multi prong hook for support items for a short period of time.
The portable universal multi prong utility hook can be presented as a sports utility hook for supporting sport items such as racket carrying bags or racket covers, towels, clothe items on tennis court with fences or similar items on basket ball court with perimeter fences when the primary upper prong is placed into the recess of the fence and the primary upper prong secondary bottom hook part 2 is rotated and positioned to be temporary locked around the fence wire and mate with the primary upper prong primary top part 1 to support the required items.
The portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary applications can be hung, by use of the primary upper prong mechanics, on standard bike or cycle handle bar to provide multi prong supports for shopping bags/carrying bags or items such as fishing rods.
The portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary applications can be hung, by use of said upper primary prong mechanics, in gardens or garden centres for temporary holding or supporting small pots of plants.
The portable universal multi prong utility hook can be presented as a plant room or maintenance shop floor utility hook, by use of the primary upper prong mechanics, in plant area for providing multi prong supports where small pipes, tubes, water hoses and electric cables can be supported temporarily to hold them in position for installation or maintenance.
The portable universal multi prong utility hook can be presented as a vehicle maintenance utility hook, by use of the primary upper prong mechanics, can support hydraulic cable or brake line cable when the primary prong can be hooked to vehicle suspension coils in wheel recess area.
The portable universal multi prong utility hook, by use of the primary upper prong mechanics, can be attached to under vehicle bonnet/hood or boot/trunk cover where extra lights or tools can be supported on hooks.
The portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook can be dismantled and reconfigured to provide a customised arrangement to suit the final application of the user.
The portable universal multi prong utility hook can be made in different sizes and constructed from metal or non-metal materials depending on the final practical application.

Claims (17)

  1. Claims 1. A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary applications comprises a primary upper prong and a plurality of secondary lower prongs, each independent of each other and held in place by a primary pin or bolt, threaded at top end with a threaded nut and with said primary upper prong having two parts; a primary top part that rotates about axis of said primary pin or bolt and a secondary bottom hook part that rotates about axis of a secondary pin or bolt, threaded at top end with a threaded nut, supported from said primary top part; both parts held against the other, by the threaded nut at said primary top part, wherein said secondary bottom hook part can rotate independently into any required position about the axis of said secondary pin or bolt of said primary top part of said primary upper prong and where said primary upper prong, as part of the primary prong mechanics, can also rotate independently of said plurality of secondary lower prongs in any position horizontally about axis of said main primary pin or bolt to any required position for temporary practical use.

A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary application according to claim 1 where said secondary bottom hook part can move up or down for adjustments and is held tightly against said primary upper prong primary top part by said tighten threaded nut, which can be a wing type nut, at top part of said secondary pin or bolt in order for said primary upper prong primary top part and said secondary bottom hook part not to be loose and form the primary upper prong mechanics of the primary upper prong as a means of attachment.

A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary application according to claim 1 where the primary pin or bolt and nut can be replaced by a wing screw that fastens in to the threaded part of the most bottom secondary lower prong and the secondary pin or bolt and nut can be replaced by a wing screw that fastens in to the threaded part of the bottom hook part.
  4. 4. A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary application according to claim 2 where said primary upper prong top part can be positioned about and against a small diameter shaft, line, wire or similar shaped small non-rectangular shaped objects and also can be positioned about small rectangular shaft or similar shaped objects and where said secondary bottom hook part can rotate about said secondary pin or bolt and mate with said primary top part to enclose referenced said small non-rectangular shaped objects or said small rectangular shaped objects where the said primary top part and said secondary bottom hook part are held firmly against each other by said tighten threaded nut of said secondary pin or bolt.

A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary application according to claim 2 where said primary upper prong top part that can be split in two parts which can rotate in a vertical plane opposite to each other about horizontal axis of a threaded wing screw or Allen head screw that hold the two parts together to provide an alternative method to the primary upper prong mechanics and an alternative means of attachment.

A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary application according to claim 1 that can be hung, by use of said primary upper prong mechanics, on a standard single prong hook to combine with it to provide a multi prong hook or hung on a nail or screw or can be adjusted so that said primary upper prong fit in a recess of an object with a load bearing horizontal plane and can be locked into position by said tighten threaded nut at the required location for support items for a short period of time.
  7. 7. A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary application according to claim 1 that can be hung, by use of said primary upper prong mechanics, on standard clothe hangers to provide said plurality of secondary lower prongs as additional supports for belts, ties and other clothe items.
  8. 8. A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary application according to claim 1 that can be a sports utility hook for supporting sport items such as racket carrying bags or racket covers, towels, clothe items on tennis court fences or similar items on basketball court fences that can fit into the recess of the fence to hook on fence wire, by use of said primary upper prong mechanics, and said plurality of secondary prongs are positioned and locked to support the required items.
  9. 9. A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary application according to claim 1 can be hung, by use of said primary upper prong mechanics, in gardens or garden centres for temporary holding or supporting small pots of plants.
  10. 10. A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary application according to claim 1 can be hung, by use of said primary upper prong mechanics, on a standard bike or cycle handle bar to provide said plurality of secondary prongs for supporting shopping bags/carrying bags and items such as fishing rods.
  11. 11. A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary application according to claim 1 that can be a plant room or maintenance shop floor utility hook, by use of said primary upper prong mechanics, in areas where small pipes, tubes, water hoses and electric cables can be supported temporarily on said plurality of secondary lower prongs to keep them out of the way for installation or maintenance.
  12. 12. A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary application according to claim 1 that can be a vehicle maintenance utility hook that can, by use of said primary upper prong mechanics, support hose or hydraulic cable or brake line cable when hooked to vehicle suspension coils in wheel recess area or be attached to under vehicle bonnet/hood or boot/trunk cover where extra lights or tools can be supported on said plurality of secondary prongs.
  13. 13. A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary application according to claim 1 where said portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook with said plurality of secondary prongs when not in use, said primary upper prong and said plurality of secondary lower prongs can be folded into a single flat one plane hook for storage or transport.
  14. 14. A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary application according to claim 1 where said portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook with said plurality of secondary lower prongs can be constructed in so that each prong can have a profile like that of a steel beam or channel with web and flange to effectively carry load imposed upon each individual prong.

A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary application according to claim 1 where said portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook with said plurality of secondary lower prongs can have each individual prong of a different colour to provide a distinctive look or appearance from other hooks that have only one overall colour.

A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary application according to claim 1 where said portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook with said plurality of secondary lower prongs can be dismantled and reconfigured to provide a customised arrangement to suit the final application of the user.
  17. 17. A portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook for a plurality of temporary application according to claim 1 where said portable universal multi prong foldable utility hook with said plurality of secondary lower prongs can be constructed in a variety of sizes and from metal or non-metal materials depending on, and to support, final practical application.
