Description

DESCRIPTION
TITLE OF THE INVENTION
[0001] A cosmetics container
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] The present invention relates to the technical field of containers, and more specifically relates to a cosmetics container.
[0003] A container for semi-fluidic cosmetics like skin toner, lotion, eye gel and mascara is generally a tubular container which is easy and non-expensive to make, and convenient to use. When used together with a dispenser provided at an opening of the container, semi-fluidic cosmetics can be applied quickly by a user.
[0004] In the prior art, a cosmetics container is generally provided with a cap at a dispense opening of the container, so that the dispenser can be isolated from the outer environment, thereby preventing leakage of the cosmetics. However, since users will usually carry their cosmetic products together with other items in their bags, users' movement will easily cause their bags to swing, resulting in the containers of the cosmetics bumping and pressing against the other items in the bag, thereby loosening the cap and leading to leakage of cosmetics and contamination of the users' bags. Also, as the containers are being pressed, unnecessary amount of cosmetics will be squeezed towards the dispensers and affect subsequent use of the cosmetics products. Therefore, a controllable switch is needed to allow and disallow the communication between the container and the dispenser.
[0005] In the prior art such as CN100518574C (application number 200680000214.2) for a cosmetics container, a middle cap and a closure pad are provided between the brush and the container, wherein an opening at a shaft of the middle cap aligns or misaligns with a corresponding opening at the closure part when the middle cap is being rotated, thereby allowing and disallowing communication between the container and the brush. The disclosed Chinese patent also teaches a lower cap threaded to the container, and the use of the lower cap as a prerequisite of installing the closure part. As such, there are too many components in the cosmetics container of the disclosed Chinese patent, and the structure thereof is complicated, resulting in increased manufacturing cost and more complicated manufacturing technique.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0006] An object of the present invention is to provide a cosmetics container to prevent leakage of cosmetics. The cosmetics container is simple in structure and easy to make, and achieves opening/closing function by simple rotation.
[0007] In order to achieve the above objects, the present invention provides the following technical solutions: [0008] A cosmetics container, comprising a container body, a rotatable cap, a dispenser, and a cover; the container body is configured to accommodate cosmetics; one end of the container body is formed as a connecting portion; an end surface of the connecting portion is provided with a first through hole configured to dispense the cosmetics; the rotatable cap is fitted on the connecting portion by rotary connection to define a sealed cavity between the rotatable cap and the connecting portion and in communication with both the rotatable cap and the connecting portion; the rotatable cap is provided with a second through hole in communication with the cavity-the dispenser is mounted on the rotatable cap; the first through hole, the cavity, and the second through hole define a cosmetics dispensing channel from the container body to the dispenser; the cover covers said end of the container body, and also houses the rotatable cap and the dispenser; wherein a projection which is integrally formed with the connecting portion or the rotatable cap is provided inside the cavity; the projection opens or closes the cosmetics dispensing channel subject to rotation of the rotatable cap.
[0009] The projection is provided at a center of the end surface of the connecting portion; correspondingly, the second through hole is configured at a center of the rotatable cap; also, the rotatable cap and the connecting portion are connected by threaded connection; the projection opens or closes the second through hole depending on the rotation of the rotatable cap with respect to the connecting portion.
[0010] Preferably, one end of the second through hole facing towards the projection is shaped as a tapered hole; the tapered hole has an increasing diameter along a direction towards the projection; an end surface of the projection is provided with a platform corresponding to the tapered hole; when the cosmetics container is in a closed condition, the platform is fitted into the tapered hole.
[0011] Preferably, the end surface of the connecting portion is recessed to form a trough; the projection is positioned at a center of the trough; the first through hole is provided at a bottom surface of the trough; an end surface of the rotatable cap facing towards the connecting portion is provided with an annular flange; the flange is slidable in an axial direction thereof on a wall of the trough when the rotatable cap is rotated with respect to the connecting portion, and the flange maintains a sealing effect against the wall of the trough during sliding.
[0012] Preferably, a circumferential surface of the connecting portion is provided with at least one first position limiting block and at least one second position limiting block; an inner circumferential surface of the rotatable cap is provided with at least one protruding block; the protruding block slides between the first position limiting block and the second position limiting block when the rotatable cap rotates with respect to the connecting portion.
[0013] Preferably, the first position limiting block has a height more than a height of the second position limiting block.
[0014] Preferably, a convex protrusion that prevents rotation of the rotatable cap is provided on the circumferential surface of the connecting portion on one side of each of the first position limiting block and the second position limiting block, such that the protruding block is capable of being limited at a position between the first position limiting block/the second position limiting block and a corresponding convex protrusion.
[0015] An end of the rotatable cap facing towards the cover is provided with a mounting cavity; the dispenser is mounted in the mounting cavity.
[0016] The dispenser has a hollow tube and a cushion applicator sleeving one end of the hollow tube. another end of the hollow tube is provided with annular rings on a circumferential surface of said another end; the annular rings are press-fitted against a side wall of the mounting cavity.
[0017] The container body is made of soft tubular materials.
[0018] Alternatively, the projection is provided on the end surface of the connecting portion at a position biased from a center of the end surface; correspondingly, the second through hole is configured at any position on the rotatable cap along a path defined by the projection when the rotatable cap rotates with respect to the connecting portion; as the rotatable cap rotates with respect to the connecting portion, the projection aligns or misaligns with the second through hole so as to close or open the second through hole respectively.
[0019] Based on the above technical solutions, the present invention has the following technical effects: [0020] 1) The first through hole, the cavity and the second through hole define the cosmetics dispensing channel from the container body to the dispenser. By rotating the rotatable cap with respect to the connecting portion, the projection in the cavity opens or closes the cosmetics dispensing channel, thereby preventing the cosmetics from leaking out of the container body. As such, it is safer and more convenient to carry the cosmetics container.
[0021] 2) The cavity between the container body and the rotatable cap is partially filled with cosmetics after the cosmetics container has been used for the first time, therefore, cosmetics can be dispensed more quickly next time when being used and dispensed, and dispensing of the cosmetics will not be interrupted Accordingly, the general user's experience is enhanced.
[0022] 3) The projection is integrally formed with the rotatable cap or the container body by using molds and the existing prior art technique. Therefore, less components are being used in the present invention, resulting in simpler structure and more efficient installation, and thus being particularly suitable for mass production.

[0048] With reference to FIGs. 1-10, the present invention discloses a cosmetics container, comprising a container body 1, a rotatable cap 2, a dispenser 3, and a cover 4.
[0049] The container body 1 is configured to accommodate cosmetics. One end of the container body 1 is formed as a connecting portion 11; an end surface of the connecting portion 11 is provided with a first through hole 111 through which the cosmetics are dispensed.
[0050] The rotatable cap 2 is fitted on the connecting portion 11 by rotary connection to define a sealed cavity 10 between the rotatable cap 2 and the connecting portion 11 and in communication with both the rotatable cap 2 and the connecting portion 11; the rotatable cap 2 is also provided with a second through hole 21 in communication with the cavity 10.
[0051] The dispenser 3 is mounted on the rotatable cap 2. The first through hole 111, the cavity 10, and the second through hole 21 define a cosmetics dispensing channel from the container body 1 to the dispenser 3.
[0052] The cover 4 covers said end of the container body 1, and also houses the rotatable cap 2 and the dispenser 3.
[0053] The present invention is characterized in that, a projection 112 which is integrally formed with the connecting portion 11 or the rotatable cap 2 is provided inside the cavity 10; the projection 112 opens or closes the cosmetics dispensing channel subject to rotation of the rotatable cap 2.
[0054] Embodiments of the present invention are illustrated below: [0055] In fact, the projection 112 may be configured in different ways (i.e. configured in different positions) depending on whether it is integrally formed with the connecting portion 11 or with the rotatable cap 2.
[0056] When the projection 112 is integrally formed with the connecting portion 11, there are two ways to configure the projection 112: Configuration al): As shown in FIG. 11, the projection 112 is provided on the end surface of the connecting portion 11 at a position biased from a center of the end surface; correspondingly, the second through hole 21 is configured at any position on the rotatable cap 2 along a path defined by the projection 112 when the rotatable cap 2 rotates (i.e. when the rotatable cap 2 rotates with respect to the connecting portion 11, the projection 112 defines a circular path having a center of the connecting portion 11 being a center point of the circular path); as the rotatable cap 2 rotates with respect to the connecting portion 11, the projection 112 will align or misalign with the second through hole 112; when the projection 112 aligns with the second through hole 112, the second through hole 112 is closed by the projection 112; when the projection misaligns with the second through hole 112, the second through hole is not blocked by the projection 112 and is therefore opened. Configuration a2): As shown in FIG. 4, the projection 112 is provided at the center of the end surface of the connecting portion 11; correspondingly, the second through hole 21 is configured at a center of the rotatable cap 2; also, the rotatable cap 2 and the connecting portion 11 are connected by threaded connection; specifically, outer threads 113 are provided around a circumferential surface of the connecting portion 11; inner threads 22 are provided in the rotatable cap 2; as the rotatable cap 2 rotates with respect to the connecting portion 11, the inner threads slide with respect to the outer thread, and the rotatable cap 2 will move with respect to the connecting portion 11 along an axial direction of the rotatable cap 2 and the connecting portion 11, thereby causing the projection 112 to open or close the second through hole 21.
[0057] Similarly, when the projection 112 is integrally formed with the rotatable cap 2, there are two ways to configure the projection 112: Configuration b1): As shown in FIG. 12, the projection 112 is provided on an end surface of the rotatable cap 2 at a position biased from a center of the end surface of the rotatable cap 2; correspondingly, the first through hole 111 is configured at any position along a moving path of the projection 112 when the rotatable cap 2 rotates (i.e. when the rotatable cap 2 rotates with respect to the connecting portion 11, the projection 112 moves in a circular path having a center of the rotatable cap 2 being a center point of the circular path); as the rotatable cap 2 rotates with respect to the connecting portion 11, the projection 112 will align or misalign with the first through hole 111; when the projection 112 aligns with the first through hole 111, the first through hole 111 is closed by the projection 112; when the projection misaligns with the first through hole 111, the first through hole is not blocked by the projection 112 and is therefore opened. Configuration b2): As shown in FIG. 13, the projection 112 is provided at the center of the end surface of the rotatable cap 2; correspondingly, the first through hole 111 is configured at the center of the connecting portion 11; also, the rotatable cap 2 and the connecting portion 11 are connected by threaded connection; specifically, outer threads 113 are provided around a circumferential surface of the connecting portion 11. inner threads 22 are provided in the rotatable cap 2; as the rotatable cap 2 rotates with respect to the connecting portion 11, the inner threads slide with respect to the outer thread, and the rotatable cap 2 will move with respect to the connecting portion 11 along an axial direction of the rotatable cap 2 and the connecting portion 11, thereby causing the projection 112 to open or close the first through hole 111.
[0058] As shown in FIG. 3 and FIG. 4, configuration a2 of the projection 112 as discussed above is being used. Compared with configuration al and configuration bl where the rotatable cap may be required to rotate along a same horizontal level, configuration a2 adopts threaded connection between the rotatable cap 2 and the connecting portion 11, thereby allowing opening or closing of the second through hole 21 by simply causing an axial movement of the second through hole 2 relative to the projection 112 when the rotatable cap 2 is rotated; accordingly, this embodiment is simple and convenient to operate, requiring only a slight rotation of the rotatable cap 2 (as shown in FIG. 5 to FIG. 10). Moreover, when closing the cosmetic container, it is only required to rotate the rotatable cap 2 reversely without the need of considering the amount of rotation, because the abutting force between the projection 112 and the rotatable cap 2 (at the second through hole 21) is a reminder to the user that the cosmetics container is already in a closed condition and that further rotation of the rotatable cap is no longer necessary; accordingly, proper closure can be ensured (same advantages apply to configuration b2 as well). By contrast, it is possible that proper closure cannot be guaranteed in configuration al and configuration bl, and also, user may feel difficult to feel whether the projection 112 has been tightly abutted against the connecting portion 11/rotatable cap 2 or not for a proper sealing effect.
[0059] Further, one end of the second through hole 21 facing towards the projection 112 is shaped as a tapered hole 211; the tapered hole 211 has an increasing diameter along a direction towards the projection 112, such that said end of the second through hole 21 has a tapered shape (as shown in the figures, said end of the second through hole having a tapered shape is formed as a hole having a shape of a truncated cone with an increasing diameter along a direction towards the projection). An end surface of the projection 112 is provided with a platform 1121 corresponding to the tapered hole 211 When the cosmetics container is in a closed condition, the plafform 1121 is fitted into the tapered hole 211 to achieve sealing effect. In other words, in said closed condition, an upper end of the projection 1112 facing towards the second through hole 21 is fitted into the end of the second through hole 21 facing towards the projection 112, thereby achieving sealing effect which is realized by abutment of an inclined side surface of the platform with an inclined inner side surface of the tapered hole.
[0060] Moreover, the end surface of the connecting portion 11 is recessed to form a trough 114; the projection 112 is positioned at a center of the trough 114 such that the trough 114 has an annular shape. The first through hole 111 is provided at a bottom surface of the trough 114. The end surface of the rotatable cap 2 facing towards the connecting portion 11 is provided with an annular flange 23; an outer diameter of the flange 23 is identical to an inner diameter of the trough 114. the flange 23 is slidable in an axial direction thereof on the trough 114 when the rotatable cap 2 is rotated with respect to the connecting portion 11. The cavity 10 is defined by the flange 23 and the trough 114. The flange 23 provides a function analogous to a sealing ring to prevent leakage of cosmetics at a connecting portion between the rotatable cap 2 and the connecting portion 11, so as to ensure that cosmetics flowing out from the first through hole 111 into cavity 10 can only exit from the cosmetics container through the second through hole 21, and will not access the connecting portion between the cap 2 and the connecting portion 11 which may otherwise lead to leakage from the connecting portion or stranded cosmetics at the connecting portion.
[0061] Besides, as shown in FIG. 6 and FIG. 9, the circumferential surface of the connecting portion 11 is provided with at least one first position limiting block 115 and at least one second position limiting block 116; an inner circumferential surface of the rotatable cap 2 is provided with at least one protruding block 24; the protruding block 24 slides between the first position limiting block 115 and the second position limiting block 116 when the rotatable cap 2 rotates with respect to the connecting portion 11 The first position limiting block 115 and the second position limiting block 116 limit a rotational angle of the rotatable cap 2 during opening and closing operations; on one hand, such limitation of the rotational angle prevents excessive rotation of the rotatable cap 2 that may cause the rotatable cap 2 to fall off from the container body 1, on the other hand, user's experience is enhanced by easier operation because it is only required to rotate the rotatable cap 2 to the allowed maximum angle for the purpose of quick alternation between an opening and a closing condition of the cosmetics container without the need to worry about excessive rotation during opening or closing; accordingly, users are less bothered and enjoy a better experience during use of the cosmetics container.
[0062] As shown in FIG. 3, in some of the embodiments of the connecting portion 11, the first position limiting block 115 has a height more than a height of the second position limiting block 116. As such, the second position limiting block 116 which is shorter than the first position limiting block 115 will not interfere with the rotation of the rotatable cap 2 during an initial stage of rotating the rotatable cap 2, thereby allowing more convenient installation.
[0063] As shown in FIG. 3, in some of the embodiments of the connecting portion 11, a convex protrusion 117 that prevents rotation of the rotatable cap is provided on the circumferential surface of the connecting portion 11 on one side of each of the first position limiting block 115 and the second position limiting block 116. When the cosmetics container is in an opened/closed condition, the protruding block 24 is positioned between the first position limiting block 115/the second position limiting block 116 and a corresponding convex protrusion 117 such that the protruding block 24 is maintained in its position, thereby preventing reverse rotation of the rotatable cap after the allowed maximum rotation (fully open or fully close) of the rotatable cap 2 with respect to the connecting portion 11; in other words, the cosmetics container is maintained in its opened or closed condition unless such condition is to be changed by the user by rotating the rotatable cap 2 again.
[0064] Lastly, a quantity of the first through hole 111 can be one or more than one, depending on practical needs. When there are more than one first through hole 111, the first through holes 111 are preferably provided at equal intervals around the projection 112 so that the cosmetics in the container body 1 can flow into the cavity 10 evenly.
[0065] As shown in FIG. 4, an end of the rotatable cap 2 facing towards the cover is provided with a mounting cavity 25. The dispenser 3 is mounted in the mounting cavity 25. Since the dispenser 3 is removably mounted to the rotatable cap 2; the container body 1 and the rotatable cap 2 are adaptable to different dispensers. Therefore, only one set of molds are required during production, and the manufacturer can apply different dispensers to the rotatable cap 2 according to practical needs during installation, so as to meet the demands of different clients and users; it is beneficial to mass production and production cost control. In an embodiment, the dispenser 3 has a hollow tube 31 and a cushion applicator 32 sleeving one end of the hollow tube 31; another end of the hollow tube 31 is provided with annular rings 311 on a circumferential surface of said another end to achieve secured fixation of the hollow tube 31 into the mounting cavity 25. Also, the dispenser 3 can also be a brush, a silicone applicator, a powder cushion, a lip gloss applicator, a mascara applicator etc. [0066] The cover 4 is removably connected with the container body 1 according to common technical means, for example press-fit, threaded connection, and buckling. A circular platform 12 corresponding to an opening of the cover 4 can be provided on the container body 1. The connecting portion 11 is formed on an end surface of the circular platform 12.
[0067] The container body 1 can be made of soft tubular materials such that it can deform when being pressed by a user so as to easily dispense the contents (i.e. cosmetics, especially semi-fluidic cosmetics) out of the container body 1.
[0068] According to the present invention, the first through hole 111, the cavity and the second through hole 21 define the cosmetics dispensing channel from the container body 1 to the dispenser 3. By rotating the rotatable cap 2 with respect to the connecting portion 11, the projection 112 in the cavity 10 opens or closes the cosmetics dispensing channel, thereby preventing the cosmetics from leaking out of the container body 1. As such, it is safer and more convenient to carry the cosmetics container. The cavity 10 between the container body 1 and the rotatable cap 2 is partially filled with cosmetics after the cosmetics container has been used for the first time, therefore, cosmetics can be dispensed more quickly next time when being used and dispensed, and dispensing of the cosmetics will not be interrupted. Accordingly, the general user's experience is enhanced. The projection 112 is integrally formed with the rotatable cap 2 or the container body 1 by using molds and the existing prior art technique. Therefore, less components are being used in the present invention, resulting in simpler structure and more efficient installation, and thus being particularly suitable for mass production.
[0069] The embodiments and drawings illustrated and described above are not intended to limit the form and type of the present invention. Any appropriate changes or modifications of the present invention by a person skilled in the field of art should not be considered deviated from the scope of the present invention.
