Planing.-In order to keep the loading lever 16 for the top feed-rolls 4 approximately level, the. fulcrum of the lever is connected by a chain 17 with the hand-operated sleeve 11 which is carried to adjust the cradle 6 through a chain 9. The two chains are connected to the sleeve 11 in opposite directions. so that the cradle and the lever fulcrum are raised and lowered together.
