Type composing.-In composing machines of the kind described in Specification 186,255 wherein the copy characters are formed on travelling members which are set up and photographed line by line, the travelling members are made of metal, and each carries one or more copy characters K, such as white characters on a black or red ground, formed on a tablet c mounted in a recess b in the travelling member a. When set up, the characters are photogaphed by reflected light. Each member is provided with a combination of teeth for distributing purposes, and with lugs for registration.
