Abstract

261,833. Greene, O. V. Aug. 24, 1925. Separators.-A gas filter for the removal of liquid particles comprises a pair of adjacent foraminous sheets of reticulated material such as woven wire between which a crimped or corrugated foraminous sheet of similar material is enclosed. The edges of the screens may be bent over for strength. Fig. 1 shows an element formed of woven wire screen cloths constituting between them spaces 23, 24 in which eddying and dust deposition take place. The edges of the sheets are held by metal channels 11. Fig. 4, shows a cylindrical form of apparatus, and Fig. 5 a form in which several cleaning elements are mounted in a casing 30 which can slide in an opening in a gas conduit 32. Fig. 8 shows a filter formed by winding a flat and a corrugated screen spirally; the filter may be mounted between two plates 38, 40, Fig. 7, one of which is provided with a handle for lifting the filter into and out of the casing 39 in which it is enclosed. The apparatus may be cleaned by jarring or washing the accumulated dust through the troughs of the corrugations.
