Abstract
A drill stop having a body, a magnetic ring at the front of the body and a magnetic ring at the rear of the body, relative to a drill bit, in use. The magnetic rings are detachable from the body to exchange for different rings having different internal aperture radii in order to accommodate different sizes of drill bit. The rear magnetic ring may also enable connection of the drill stop to a chuck of a drill, in use. The rear ring may be made of rubber instead of being metallic, to retain the drill stop on the drill bit, in use. The front magnetic ring may act to protect the wall around a drilled hole, during drilling. The drill body may be partially hollow with holes in the body wall to enable dust/debris to escape. The invention is intended to enable a drill to be used on hammer-mode without causing damage to a drill-bit when the drill stop is installed.
Description
Patent Application TITLE: (DR1LLRING) DRILL DEPTH STOP FOR ALL MASONRY FOR WALLPLUGS / WALL ANCHORS / WALL FIXINGS INVENTOR: Kevin Garcia
BACKGROUND
[0001] The majority of current drill depth stops on the market are made to drill holes in wood only and cannot be used with any drill or driver with hammer mode on to drill holes for wall fixings into masonry. Other companies have used colour-coded rubber C\I bands on each size drill bit to stop over drilling while the common user will use masking C\I tape to see when the drill has reached its required depth but both are non-durable and problematic. My invention solves both these problems.
LCD BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0002] DrillRing is designed to be used on a hand drill's masonry or multi drill bit on hammer mode unlike other conventual drill collar depth stops they cannot be used on hammer mode.
[0003] When the drill bit is tightened onto the chuck it is impossible to over drill with DrillRing making it easy, quick and safe to use for a DIY-er and allows tradesmen to drill at full speed, getting the same depth every single time for wall plug/wall anchors/wall fixing installations and other fixing in through framework into breeze blocks, plasterboard, brick or directly into all masonry types.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION AND BEST MODE OF IMPLEMENTATION
1000161 <<<< The DrillRing bit does one simple task effectively, it helps to drill accurate and faster holes for all wall fixings/anchors and plugs with minimum setup time. DrillRing is designed to be used on a hand drill's masonry or multi drill bit on hammer mode, unlike most conventual drill collar depth stops, they cannot be used on hammer mode, they will either work loose or become damaged. DrillRing magnet rings (Fig 3 F, Fig 4 E and Fig 5) are tailored for standard sizes in the application of wall plugs/anchors/fixings installation into walls for each standard size drill bit and in walls through stud framework or battens (Fig 11) with longer drill bits. No alignment of depth stops on the drill bit is needed once the drill bit is tightened into the back of the drill C\J C\I chuck. Each DrillRing compact size allows it to fit tightly to a specific drill bit size in N* conjunction with the various interchangeable magnetic rings (Fig 5) of which boreholes are oversize more than the standard size. For example, a 6mm drill bit would need the C\J magnetic part of the body of the Drillring to have a bore greater than the drill bit's head to allow it to fit over the head of the drill bit to magnetize onto the drill chuck. ;1000171 When the drill bit is tightened onto the chuck (Fig 2) it is impossible to over drill with DrillRing making it easy to use for a DIY-er and allowing tradesmen to drill at full speed getting the same depth every single time for applications such as framework into breeze blocks or brick or directly into any masonry. DrillRing protects the drill bit, unlike most drill collars which can damage and slip off if placed on the drill bit cutting thread. DrillRing also has an additional top wall protector ring (Fig 6) to protect the wall from damage from the DrillRing's body which is also tailored for each drill bit size. ;1000181 (Fig 4 A) DrillRing has holes through to the centre of the body to allow waste to be extracted. (Fig 4 B) Drilling's all-around body is made of metal or plastic for durability. The DrillRing's bottom end (Fig 4 C) is rebated to allow the bottom end rubber ring to compress into the main body to create a tight push-fit (Fig 3). Bevelled edges (Fig 4 D) on both the top and bottom allow drill tipping for angled drilling where needed. Dust collection voids (Fig 4 A) for brick dust collection makes the DrillRing easy to remove without this space the DrillRing would jam on the bit because of the tension caused by the waste of materials buildup such as brick, render or plasterboard debris. Interchangeable magnet rings (Fig 4 E and Fig 5) compress into the bottom of the main body in a push-fit connection to keep the bit on to the drill bit even when the drill C\I bit is face down or alternatively the main body can be made from metal that can allow a C\I magnetic connection (Fig I). Each ring is tailored for various sizes of drill bits in conjunction with a top wall protector ring of the same bore size as the tension ring (Fig 3). Plastic, metal or rubber ring spacers can also be extended to be cut to size for any C\I depth of the hole that is not at the conventual depth of a wall plug or anchor or for longer drill bits. The wall protection ring (Fig 3 G and Fig 6) is detachable from the main body as it is not needed for drilling into raw brick, block or any other fixing that covers the full radius of the top of the main body that will not be affected by the circle marks produced by the contact point of the Drillring without the wall protection rubber ring. ;1000191 The DrillRing depth stop can be made using various methods to hold the depth stop onto the drill bit. For example, (Fig 7) A dual spring load clamps inserted through from either side of the Drillring body will hold the depth stop onto the bit. Each DrillRing (Fig 9) bit can be tailor-made for each drill bit by reducing the bottom hole (Fig 9 B) to allow the specific sized drill bit shank to pass through in from the front hole (Fig 9 A) except the front hole does not have a bigger radius to allow the head of the specific sized drill bit to pass through the body of the depth stop. A rubber tension ring can also be retrofitted to hold the DrillRing onto the drill bit instead of a magnet ring. ;1000201 In addition, the DrillRing (Fiv, 10) can be fitted with a tension ring (Fig 8 and Fig 10 E) tailored to each drill bit through the main body in the holes voids to create tension on the drill bit from various points that the dust voids allow (Fig 10 A). This would eliminate the need for a rebate at the bottom (Fig 10 C) of the main body while all of the other dimensions (Fig 10 B and D) will remain the same. ;1000211 Spacer rings can be added or the dimensions of the body of the Drill ring's C\J size can be manufactured differently for different drill chucks to achieve the correct C\I drilling depth for the preferred wall plug. *
