Abstract

A pair of sunglasses comprising a flexible strap 4 instead of arms/temples. The flexible strap 4 is used to retain the glasses in position during use and used to retain the glasses around the wearer’s neck when not in use. There may be a rigid frame 1 containing lenses 2 providing UV protection from sunlight. There may be a pin 3 connected to either end of the frame 1 to attach the strap 4. The strap 4 may be attached and removed from the frame 1. The glasses may be rotated to be flat against the wearer’s chest. There may be a magnetic closure mechanism 5 or a simple sliding adjustment mechanism.

Description

Times Eyewear UK Patent Application The of Invention: Armless Spectacles and Retenton System Field of invention The present application relates to a pair of sunglasses with a flexible strap instead of conventional arms.
Background of invention
Conventional sunglasses comprises of rigid arms and are liable to fall off when undertaking any movement or sport. They also require additional chains or straps to retain them when partaking in movement to prevent the glasses from falling off. If they are required to be stored on a person, they are limited to be put on the wearer's head or in their pocket at risk of being damaged.
A pair of sunglasses comprises of a rigid frame (1) containing lenses (2) providing UV protection from sunlight. The sunglasses do not have conventional arms otherwise known as temples. Instead, a flexible strap (4) that goes around the back of the wearer's head and is connected to either end of the frame by a small pin (3). The flexible strap can be easily removed and attached using the attachment mechanism at each end of the frame. The flexible strap is either used to retain the glasses in position during use and used to retain the glasses around the wearer's neck when not in use. The novel step here is that the glasses are able to be rotated to be flat against the wearer's chest and can be hidden underneath a clothing garment. The strap is either a magnetic closure mechanism (5) or a simple sliding adjustment mechanism.
