Abstract
A roof gutter cleaning device comprising a centrally located connector socket capable of receiving an extension pole. The connector socket is able to rotate 360 degrees about a mounting pin. Preferably the device has two wheels that allow it to be moved easily along the gutter. At either end of the device there may be a threaded socket. A cylindrical brush tool with a screw thread can be attached to one or more threaded socket. A spade or scoop tool with a screw thread can be attached to one or more threaded socket.
Description
I
Roof Gutter Cleaning Device This invention relates to a device to be used in the manual cleaning of roof gutters. It is used to clean the roof gutters and remove any dirt and debris such as fallen leaves, twigs, moss etc.
BACKGROUND
Houses generally have open roof gutters which suffer from getting clogged up with falling leaves, twigs, moss and dirt which significantly reduces the rain water flow in the gutter. This invention aims to easily and safely aid in the cleaning of the roof gutters and thus restore the rain water flow back to a more efficient state.
Conventionally the standard practice of cleaning roof gutters is by standing on a ladder and use hand tools to remove the dirt and debris. This can be a very dangerous task since you can be working five meters above the ground while on the ladder.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
This invention attempts to eliminate all the risk and danger from the task of cleaning roof gutters, since it enables you to effectively do the task while standing on the ground.
This invention comprises of a roof gutter cleaning device which is mounted onto the end of an extendable pole. Once the extendable pole has been extended to the correct length to reach the gutter, the device is then lowered into the gutter and then the user can manually move the extendable pole left to right and since the device is attached to the end of the pole it will traverse that section of gutter and clean it accordingly.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows an overview picture of how to use the gutter cleaning device to clean a house roof gutter.
The user 'X' is shown standing on ground level and is holding an extendable pole 'Y' which has attached to its top end the gutter cleaning device 'A'.
The cleaning device 'A' has been lowered into the gutter 'W and the gutter is cleaned by the user 'X' by moving the extendable pole 'Y' left to right, in the direction of 'V and 'U.
Figure 2 shows the gutter cleaning device A' in more detail The cleaning device 'A' has on its base two wheels 'D' which allow the device to traverse the gutter with very little force being exerted by the user on the ground since the wheels will roll with minimal resistance on the inner surface of the gutter.
In the centre of the cleaning device, it has an extendable pole connector socket 'B' and a extendable pole can be attached and screwed in by hand at the connector sockets threaded end G'.
For ease of use the extendable pole connector socket 'B' can fully swivel around the mounting pin rod 'C'. This allows the user to use the cleaning device at any suitable angle from the ground which allows for more flexibility whilst in use.
The cleaning device 'A' has at both ends 'screw threaded end sockets' E' and 'F' onto which a brush tool and also a spade/scoop tool can be attached to enable cleaning of the gutter.
Figure 3 shows a round cylindrical brush tool T which can be attached to one or both ends of the gutter cleaning device (Figure 2 E' and 'F') by screwing it in by the screw threaded end 'H'.
Figure 4 shows a spade/scoop tool 'X which can be attached to one or both ends of the gutter cleaning device (Figure 2 'E' and 'F') by screwing it in by the screw threaded end 'K'. The spade/scoop tool 'S had as semi-circular bottom edge profile '12 which maximizes the contact with the inner surface of the gutter and thus aids in scooping out as much dirt and debris as possible.
Figure 5 shows the gutter cleaning device with the round cylindrical brush tool attached to each end of the cleaning device.
Figure 6 shows the gutter cleaning device with a spade/scoop tool attached to each end of the cleaning device Figure 7 shows the gutter cleaning device with the round cylindrical brush tool attached to one end and the spade/scoop tool attached to the other end of the cleaning device. It also shows where the extendable pole is also attached.
Figures,5, 6 and 7 show how versatile this gutter cleaning device is.
To use the cleaning device in the most efficient way the user would start to clean the gutter using the device with two round cylindrical brushes attached as shown in Figure 5.
The user would then with the extendable pole attached, push the cleaning device from left to right in the gutter, this will cause the dirt and debris in the gutter to be brushed to the two extreme ends of the gutter.
The user would now remove the two round cylindrical brushes from the cleaning device and attach the two spade/scoop tools to each end as shown in figure 6.
The user would now using the extendable pole push the cleaning device to one end of the gutter and scoop-up the dirt and debris from within the gutter and then lower the cleaning device to the ground level and empty the dirt and debris into a rubbish bag. The user would continue this process of removing the dirt and debris from the gutter using the spade/scoop tool until both extreme ends of the gutter are satisfactorily cleaned.
Claims (5)
- CLAIMS1. A Gutter Cleaning Device which has a centrally located 'connector socket' for attaching an extendable pole and this 'connector socket' has the ability to fully swivel 360 degrees around a mounting pin rod which is connected to the body of the cleaning device as shown in figure 2. The ability of the 'connector socket to fully swivel 360 degrees gives the user on the ground more flexibility while using the cleaning device since it can be controlled at any suitable angle from the ground.
- 2. A Gutter Cleaning Device which has two wheels mounted on the bottom of the device allowing it to be easily moved along the roof gutter as shown in figure 2. The cleaning device will move with minimal resistance inside the gutter because of the low friction between the wheels and the inner gutter surface. This is a major advantage over current gutter cleaning devices which have no wheels and thus more effort and force has to be exerted by the user to move the device.
- 3. A Gutter Cleaning Device which has two 'screw threaded sockets', which are located on each end of the device as shown in figure 2. Tools such as a brush and a spade/scoop tool can attached by screwing them into the sockets to aid the cleaning of the gutter as shown in figure 7.
- 4. A Gutter Cleaning Device which has a round cylindrical brush tool with a screw threaded end for securely attaching it to the end of the cleaning device as shown in figure 3 and figure 5.
- 5. A Gutter Cleaning Device which has a spade/scoop tool with a screw threaded end for securely attaching it to the end of the cleaning device as shown in figure 4 and 6.
