Abstract

261,437. Verity, C. E. H. June 12, 1925. Surface condensers.-Cooling-tubes 1 arranged within a shell 2 so as to form a screen between the steam inlet 4 and the air outlets 6 are disposed so as to leave lanes 3 free from tubes on the steam inlet side and lanes 5 interlacing with them on the air-withdrawal side. The nest of tubes may have a circular cross-section with the lanes 3 radiating inwards from the outer periphery, and the lanes 5 radiating from a central space from which the air is withdrawn.
