Abstract

A separator for a carpet cleaner, being positioned on an air flow path between a suction inlet and exhaust outlet, and configured to be provided within a recovery tank, the separator comprising: a housing providing a cyclone chamber 106 between an outer and inner wall; an inlet 104 in the outer wall, for receiving air and dirty liquid into the cyclone housing; a dirt outlet 120 in a lower portion of the outer wall from which dirty liquid within the cyclone chamber leaves the housing; and an outlet of opening(s) 116 formed in the inner wall, through which air is drawn into an outlet passage 118. Also claimed is a recovery tank defining a volume for storing dirty liquid, and comprising the separator. Also claimed is a carpet cleaning device comprising a floor head forming a suction inlet, a motor for creating an air flow through the device, and the recovery tank comprising the separator.
