Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a scissor device, in particular a device for providing flexible scissors; more particularly but not exclusively for hygienic multiple user hairdressing.
Background
Many people attend hairdressers and barbers in all societies, as necessity and pleasure.
As a result, such individuals can be very busy, and many of them can expect to service 15 multiple clients in a standard day.
Users of scissors such as these may require a means to effectively change blades, for example for hygiene purposes between clients, or to adjust to differing requirements of styling. Many such users may have preferred handles.
Additionally or alternatively it can be costly to maintain a larger set of scissor requirements.

FR 2 774 935 (GSTALDER) discloses removable and interchangeable blade scissors, 35 characterized in that each of two legs comprises, in front of the hinge axis to the other arm, an elongate recess, and a boss provided with a projection directed towards the rear, in order to pass through an aperture having front and rear latching portions and a pivoting locking lever.
US 5 758 422 (FRANK) discloses scissors comprising: first and second blade holders, said first and second blade holders being pivoted with respect to each other on a pivot axis so that said first and second blade holders can be rotated with respect to each other around axis; first and second blade retaining means respectively on said first and second blade holders, a rabbeted notch and each blade has a finger thereon sized to fit within its rabbeted notch so that said blade is held in said blade holder.
The present invention arose in order to overcome problems suffered by existing devices.
Summary of the Invention
According to the present invention there is provided a scissor device comprising two handles, two shanks each defining a shank axis, and two blades, the blades comprising a carrier and a cutting element, wherein the shanks are connected one to another at a pivot, and the carriers include at least one bayonet arranged to be received by at least one impression on an inner face of at least one shank, and the blades further include tabs extending orthogonally from the carriers, the tabs dimensioned and arranged to be received by slots in the shanks, the tabs extend beyond the outer face of the shanks when the blades are received on the shanks so as to enable a user to move the blades axially when the blades are received on the shanks.
In some embodiments of the device the carrier is received in a channel on the shank inside edge. In this way the blades may advantageously be prevented from twisting in use, and the blades may be envisaged to be pushed into position during use patterns.
In some embodiments of the device the axial movement enables the blades to be disengaged from the shanks. For example the axial movement may disengage the bayonets or other locating feature, wherein advantageously such axial movement may be counter-intuitive to usage patterns.
In some embodiments of the device the pivot comprises a screw threaded part. In this way advantageously the pivot may go through both shanks or handles and screw on the other end to lock the parts together and acts as a pivot axis for the scissors to move easily and consistently.
In some embodiments of the device the carriers comprise two bayonets. This may limit failure.
In some embodiments of the device the carriers are formed in plastics. This may provide a lightweight tactile form.
In some embodiments of the device the inner faces of the shanks comprise orthogonally deviated impressions for receipt of the bayonets. In this way the bayonets may be envisaged to advantageously engage in a first direction orthogonal the shank axis and be locked and unlocked in an axial direction for example.
In some embodiments of the device the cutting elements are bowed longitudinally. This may enable the blade to form a close cutting format. It may be envisaged that the cutting elements may extend beyond the carrier and comprise bowing thereafter.
In some embodiments of the device the shanks define axes extending away from the 20 pivot and are provided by substantially triangular parts which parts are defined by an outer section and an inner section, separated by a channel for receipt of the blade, the outer section comprising the inner face and outer face.
Advantageously therefore the tab may pass through a slot from the inner face to the 25 outer face of the outer section of the channel, acting to disengage the bayonets also facing in the same direction and engaging into the inner face of the outer section.
In some embodiments of the device the opposing inner section of the channel is provided by a flat wall with a top surface to which a lower surface of the cutting element 30 abuts when the carrier is received in the channel.
In some embodiments of the device these surfaces are inclined, at least in part, in reference to the axis, such that when the blade moves axially in reference to the shank the mating surfaces will approximate. Advantageously this provides a more secure 35 locking arrangement when the blades are axially engaged onto the shanks.
In other embodiments the mating surfaces may be tessellated or otherwise adapted to lock together for example progressively.
In other embodiments the device may comprise resiliently deformable parts, which may 5 be engaged axially for example in order to form a locking position for the blades in the shanks.
In this way it may be envisaged therefore that the device may enable frequent and easy changing of blades, so as to allow for hygiene concerns, preferred handles, 10 and/or easy and controlled blade selection during hairdressing or cutting.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example only and with reference to the Figures in which:
Brief Description of Figures

Detailed Description of Figures
With reference to the figures there is shown an embodiment of a scissor device 99 generally comprising two handles 1, two shanks 2 each defining a shank axis, and two blades 20, the blades comprising a carrier 7 and a cutting element 6, wherein the shanks are connected to one another at a pivot 3, and the carriers include two bayonets 17 arranged to engage impressions 23 on an inner face of the shank, and the blades further include tabs 4 extending orthogonally from the carriers 7 such as to be received by slots 24 in the shanks, the tabs arranged to extend beyond the outer face of the shanks when the blades are located on the shanks, wherein the tabs enable a user to move the blades axially when they are received on the shanks..
In particular reference to the pictured embodiment the embodiment comprises stainless steel handles and shanks, which handles, and shanks are formed as a single cast, machined or forged part, with a pivot hole 33 intermediate the shanks and the handles.
The pivot holes 33 are in receipt of a pivot pin 3 in use. The pivot pin is threaded at an end so as to screw into one or more of the shanks' pivot holes.
The shanks define axes extending away from the pivot and are provided by substantially triangular parts which parts are defined by an outer section 25 and an inner section 5, separated by a channel 26 for receipt of the blade 20, or more particularly the carrier 7, the outer section providing the aforementioned inner face and outer face.
The inner face of the outer section provides one side of the channel.
The other side of the channel is the inner section 5, comprised by a flat wall with a top surface to which a lower surface of the cutting element abuts when the carrier is held in the channel. The cutting elements may be envisaged to stand proud of the inner 35 section.
In this way the cutting elements will in contact during use.
In particular reference to the pictured embodiment the shanks comprise short supports for the blades, extending axially away from the pivot. The carriers of the blades are 5 substantially coterminous the shanks, with the cutting elements extending axially therefrom.
It may be envisaged that bowing of the cutting elements is contained substantially or wholly beyond the ends of the shanks, so as to pull the blades together, including at the carriers.
The carriers are formed in plastic, such as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) or similar hard polymer.
The shanks have a substantially triangular form, narrowing along the axis away from the pivot, with a central channel into which the carriers sit in use.
The mating surfaces of the shanks and cutting elements are partly inclined in reference to the axis, such that when the blade moves axially in reference to the shanks the 20 mating surfaces approximate.
The invention has been described by way of examples only and it will be appreciated that variation may be made to the above-mentioned embodiments without departing from the scope of invention as defined by the claims, in particular but not solely 25 combination of features of described embodiments.
