Abstract
A method of data communication is disclosed. The method which includes identifying data (SI) and compiling that data (S2) into a data package including a preliminary identifier, a format identifier (which is linked to a format file) and additional data relating to the identified data. The data package is transmitted (S3) and received on a receiving device (S4). A preliminary data check on is undertaken (S5) to determine whether the first data package contains the correct preliminary identifier. If the first data check is okay then a format data check is performed (S6) to determine whether the first data package contains a format identifier matching at a format identifier in a list of known format identifiers on the receiving device. Then if the format data check determines that the first data package contains a known format data identifier, the additional data is utilised (S8) as instructed by the format file, for example, displaying information of a screen.
