Theatrical appliances. - The slack of a suspended cable or the like such as is used for the flies on the stage of a theatre is stored within a receptacle a having means b for clamping the cable d to a partition c or to a wall c<1> so that the cable rests along the wall or floor of the .receptacle. The floor of the receptacle may be undulated or otherwise curved and the wall opposite to that to which the cable is clamped may be inclined outwardly. The partition or wall to which the rope is clamped may be of any of the forms shown in Fig. 4. To economize space the receptacle may be in two parts each provided with cable clamping means and adapted to be fitted together.
