Description
BUGGY BOARD TO SCOOTER
Field of the Invention
This invention relates to a buggy board that can be converted into a scooter/ children's transport device
Background to the Invention
Many different types of children's transport device have previously been proposed. Two of which are a scooter that compromises of the frame, a plate form to stand on, wheels and a steering wheel; and a buggy board, which compromises of a plate to stand on, wheels and arms to allow a connection with the child's pushchair.
The purpose of a scooter can be for leisure and enjoyment for children. It helps keep healthy and for fast mobility of a young child who may struggle to keep up with the walking pace of an adult.
The buggy board is designed to be attached to a pram and allow the parents to travel with ease with more than one child.
As children grow and seek independence they may want the scooter, but also may tire easily and want to go on the buggy board. To satisfy both needs, parents may need to bring two devices, a scooter and the buggy board, alongside the pram.
However, a problem exists in that a traditional pram is not designed to simultaneously transport a buggy board and a scooter while accommodating children.
The present invention has been devised with the foregoing problems in mind and this device proposes to counter this need.
Summary of the Invention
A preferred embodiment of the invention is a buggy board that can be converted into a scooter. The buggy board comprising: forward and backward set of wheels, an extendable chassis that behaves like an actuator, and three independent small standing platforms that merge as one big platform connected to each other by beam, a detachable or fixed steering wheel with a height adjustment.
An advantage of this arrangement is that the buggy board can be turned into a scooter with ease. The user can, by turning a screw, and pivoting the side decks backward, fold the scooter into a buggy board, allowing the device to be clipped to the back of a pram with the help of two front extension arms. A further advantage is that this is easily converted again, and when the child would like to use a scooter instead of a buggy, reverse the process above, by turning the screw, pivoting the side decks forward, unfold the buggy board and convert it into a scooter.

Detailed Description of Preferred Embodiments
Referring now to the drawings, the buggy board comprises a metal (for example tubular aluminium) frame 5, 7, 13 and 14 onto which a plastic, composite or metal sheet (for example, aluminium) is mounted. The frame, in this particular embodiment, is extended to form the steering support. A set of rear wheels 4 is coupled to the frame 13 and is configured to be able to rotate relative thereto.
A preferred embodiment of the buggy board is shown in the deployed position in FIG. 1. This embodiment has a front wheel 1, a middle deck 2, and two side deck 3. FIG. 2 shows this embodiment in the converted scooter option. A set of two rear wheels 4, and a front wheel fork 5. FIG. 3 shows a pair of cable ties 6.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the middle deck 4 is connected to the pivot bar 15, by using a butt hinge 10 and the clamping assembly receptacle 12, and the side decks 3 are connected to the pivot bar 15, by using the rotating tip 16 and so the clamping assembly receptacle 12.
The embodiment shown in FIGS. 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 is a pull buggy board in which power is supplied by the human user via a pram. However, in other embodiments of the invention, shown in FIGS 2, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 the invention can be converted into a push scooter in which power is directly supplied by the human user.
To covert the scooter into a buggy board, the user loosens clamp 12 in FIG. 12, the middle deck 2 is vertically pivoted while the two sides deck 3 uses the pivot tips 16 to pivot vertically high enough to avoid the rear wheel set 4 shown in FIG 9. The next step will be to lower down the middle deck to the initial position and extend the telescopes chassis as shown in FIGS. 17 and 18, the user pivots the two sides decks horizontally as shown in FIGS. 10, 11, and 12 then the clamping assembly receptacle 12 is tightened back to the matching connection 11, preventing all decks from pivoting.
FIG. 3 illustrates the cable ties 6 which is used to connect the buggy board to the pram FIGS. 4 and 14 illustrate the deployed and converted positions of an embodiment of 30 the invention shown from a side view.
FIG. 5 illustrates a seat clamp 8 which is used to adjust the high of the steering support.
FIG. 7 illustrates a pair of articulated arms 9 used to connect the cable ties 6 to the pivot bar 15 FIG. 8 illustrates a butt hinge 10 which is used to pivot up and down the middle deck 4 FIG. 9 illustrates a clamping ring 18 used to secure the front chassis 7.
FIGS. 11, 17 and 18 illustrate a locking block 11 which is used to lock and secure the side decks 3, by mating with the assembly block 12.
FIG. 12 illustrates the assembly block 12 which is connected to the decks and used to mate with 11.
FIG. 14 illustrates the entire steering support geometry 13 of a preferred embodiment of the invention. The steering support which is part of the frame is also connected to the chassis (also part of the frame) with the free rotating motion allowing the front wheel to be pivoted front left to right. The fork 5 and the ring clamp 18 are used to encapsulate the front chassis 7.
FIG. 17 illustrates the rear end of the chassis 14 which is used to connect the rear wheel set 4 and also to support the pivot bar 15.
FIG. 18 illustrates the side deck pivot 16, which is connected to the pivot bar 15 and the side deck 3. It also illustrates the actuator 17 and 18 which is connected to both ends of the chassis 14 and 7, therefore allowing the chassis length to be 20 extended.
