Oil gas is obtained by heating FIG. 4. oil in two stages in a horizontal horse-shoe shaped generator, one part 1 of which is heated to about 1000‹ C. and the succeeding part 2 to 500‹ C. The non-saturated carbides from the first part are further cracked in the second part which may contain iron turnings.
